Made for the Mansion House’s north-west state bedroom, the Sheraton State Bed was inspired by a description of John Phillips’ state bed in 1802 and a Thomas Sheraton design from 1793.

It is constructed in rosewood veneer with gilded decoration to match existing furniture. At the four corners are dragons supporting the City of London’s arms. The centres have anthemions, all carved and gilded. The posts are also rosewood veneer with reeded, gilded columns, leaf capitals and lions’ paw feet.
